  • anyone know an awesome resource for retro modern road builds? have found online but looking for inspiration for 90s road frame with modern components. flame away

  • There's a little thread here

I've recently stripped my 70's Woodrup frame of period components and replaced it all with modern 9-speed kit. Much more useful and enjoyable to ride for me.

  • Someone revamped a cooper with all new kit on hear, that was ace.

  • ta, I found a few others also, in between falling asleep in the sun. I reckon, done with due care and attention, you can achieve some good results, on a bike that functions ummm, properly

  • I've always liked well-loved frames that have been updated over the years. Main sticking points clearly are 126 vs 130 rear spacing (solved by a cold set/ spring) and threaded vs threadless headsets (solved by buying a nice new carbon road fork).

  • yeah the fork replament junction is tricky, depends he nice the orig forks are, and whether the new stem ruins he build

  • There's been a number of builds in the current projects thread I think .. Just a case of finding them. Also look at http://www.fyxomatosis.com/index.php/gallery-of-bicycle-builds/bicycles as Shifter Bikes have done a few nice ones too

  • Here is Phil's Cooper. My favourite old bike with new bits.

  • very nice, it works

  • Here is another forumites

  • I love retro/modern builds (^this is my Merckx). There's a very good thread here http://www.pignonfixe.com/showthread.php?tid=97557
