Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere I'm having trouble finding a cleat explanation.
I have a nice set of wheels which run a threaded 5 speed block (freewheel) on the back . I'd like to convert it to singlespeed by using a screw on bmx freewheel or similar. Normally a conversion kit for a cassette freehub would come with spacers to get the sprocket in the correct position for a good chain line.
So what do I use as spacers on a threaded freewheel hub? Are there threaded spacers available? surely the box freewheel is much narrower than the 5 speed block so what takes up the rest of the thread? Also will I still need to re-dish the wheel or can I avoid this? I'm trying to do this as cheap as possible without buying a new wheel.
