I had a few failures of Seagate drives in the past as well. I've never had a WD drive fail on me.
Oh and stay away from Hitachi if you keep the drive running 24/7. Not a high failure rate but a high pitch noise that will drive you nuts. The models I had used to do that until I replaced them by WD drives (computer was in my bedroom, it's like there is a HUGE mosquito in your room).
