The hub probably needs nothing more than oil and adjustment.
But you could take the opportunity to replace it with an SRF-3 which is the modern replacement for the AW3, and a much better device. -

Thanks for this but I think it could really benefit from a new wheel set, the current rims are really rusty, the spokes loose etc. Yes, I could refurb everything but if I can find a set of half decent wheels at a good price I'll do that.
So, any links to a cheap wheel set?
Cheers
Hey Hey
I'm looking to replace the wheels on my wifes old bike.
Don't want anything fancy or trick, just a decent set of wheels to stop her moaning that I never look after her bike!
She inherited an old gas pipe Peugeot from her grandmother a few years back and I've given it some basic love and attention as time allows.
It was never in great nick and now the time has come to replace the rusty steel Rigida wheel set for something a bit more modern.
So, your input on where to buy the wheels is appreciated.
I need 700C wheels (28x15/8x1/8) with a Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub.
Second hand or brand new as long as they don't break the bank.
Where would you buy them?
Or, would I be better off getting the hub serviced and then getting new wheels built onto the serviced hub?
Appreciate your input.
Cheers
