Yuppies started taking over in the very late 80s... My local, Finch's (now better known as the Duke of Wellington), got overrun by Transvision Vamp and all their cunty, puffa-jacket-wearing mates... We had to up sticks to the Pelican...
All went downhill very quickly after that, for a while there it was fucking hipster heaven... I lived on Blenheim Crescent above Mike's Cafe, Ray from Thee Hypnotics lived over the road above the Travel Bookshop, Joe Strummer, Brian James, Mick Jones and all those other punk rock cunts all lived around the corner...
