2012-08-03 - Rider down, Shoreditch High St/A1202 9:10am

Glad rider escaped unharmed & glad he had a high level of self control after the incident.

There are at best willfully/criminally negligent/stupid people out there - please everyone ride safe as you can - if there's a nutter out there/behind, get off and take down details - this could have been too horrible for words.

+1 definitely write it down now with a sketch, include time, date & road positions - often easier to dictate this - most modern phones have this facility.

Just gave my witness statement at Shoreditch Police Station, two things I wish I'd remembered better or recorded at the time (though probably not so important in this particular case) are :

• Description of what people were wearing and carrying.
  
• Any passengers in the vehicles involved.
  A photo would have done the job for both of these, wish I had the presence of mind to take one!
  
  

I hear the driver of the van was arrested for dangerous driving and actual bodily harm.

Yeah it's no fun, I have been chased by some bellends in a scaffold van on more than one occasion.
At the end of the day it is very least ABH and at worst attempted murder

Ummmm, I wasn't apportioning blame. Like I said, no excuses for the driver.

Thats why I wrote a statement to myself five minutes afterwards and emailed it from my work account, so I had the fresh facts recorded.

Smart thinking. If you do get called to court, it might be worth letting some cycling blogs/local newspapers etc aware of the case, where it's being held and when.
