We thought about getting some basic repair tools for the Microcosm office (just by Waterloo). Somebody came by the other day looking for a chain tool.

It is a nice idea for a thread. Anybody who makes use of it should be publicly shamed for not carrying spares, though :-)

Ah, gotcha. I thought that was more for maintenance etc, rather than quick fixes, but I hadn't really given it a look. My bad.

Good shout. Or dead drop puncture repair kits in various sneaky locations?
I mean, it's an appealing idea but no way they will still be there when anyone wants one. Also solving the riddle to find one will be harder than just going to evans.

Oh man, who cares. We're basically now talking bike-fixing geocaching, a game of Bicycle Repair of Bike. How could that be anything other than awesome.

why not just take a puncture repair kit or spare tube with you?

You're no fun

Perhaps a list of phone numbers of folks with tools + vague areas + when it's worth trying them. i.e.
Uxbridge - Alfie - oh!7454012800 - term time, any hour.

I do, as I'm sure many others do. Lets face it though, a flat isn't all that can go wrong when you're out and about.

I don't suppose anyone NW3 has a bike pump I'd be able to use later? Small valve. Gonna be in gospel oak but will happily walk to hampstead, tufnell park, Kentish town kinda areas.
Gotta fix the puncture first and not there yet (making things difficult) - will owe the saviour a beer next weekend.

Hello mate, I'm in nw11, but can pop down if you still need it. What time you thinking?

DM'ing you mate.
So I saw this in the "Oh, shit" moments thread,
...and thought it might be beneficial to start a "quick fix"/"help me" kinda thread where people could post if they get a flat or need a hand of some kind while they're out and about/far from home, just on the off chance that someone around the area might be able to help if they see it.
There could well be a similar thread floating around, but I trawled back a few pages and couldn't find one. Also, could be a little impractical, but I guess there's no harm in posting it.
