ps I have time constraints so I would need to pick and fit this weekend!

What's the internal diameter of your steerer? You'll need to know that for the tube OD and also the ID your aiming for.

Thanks, I have yet to measure that....I suspect that it's around an inch but I'm probably way off. With the ID...I have no aim for that. Should i?
ps I was hoping to test some saleperson's patience by trying to one that fits on site - the magic slipper approach

Carbon is going to be hard to get in London but I should think there are different metal stock holders for Aluminium tube (you'll be looking at 2500mm length minimium they'll let you buy) and the first question they'll ask is OD and ID or Wall Thickness.
Here's a contact in Hatfield https://www.aluminiumwarehouse.co.uk
I don't know what steerer bungs you've tried, but they do vary. I know the Extralite UltraStar 2 will expand to 25mm and the Tune Gum Gum goes slightly bigger, something like 25.5mm. I know these are high end, hard to get at short notice but I'm using them as examples because it's what I've used in the past. So I'm saying it may be worth a visit to the lbs and see if you can try some different expanders before going down the bonded Al tude.

NIce, thanks for that. I'll check all those out. Any advice on cutting the aluminium if the bungs don't work out- specific saw or will I need a machine??
Thanks man, nice to have the help!!

Al is really soft so a standard hacksaw will slice through it easily and a bit of wet and dry to clean the cut.

Perfect. I'm sure it will be a valuable learning experience!
Hi All,
Anybody know where I can find some alu or carbon tubing locally (London that is)?
Purpose is to insert into my current carbon steerer fixed with a bit of epoxy as sleeve for some extra support....
My steerer is an unconventional 1.25" so I am struggling to find a premanufactured sleeve or steerer bung to suit.
Much appreciated!
