Recommend a web book/tablet

So the house MacBook Air is/has died (is making omnious bleep bleep sounds that are apparently something to do with the motherboard dying or something equally major)

Whilst we save to replace it, thinking of getting a netbook for interim - essentially it just needs to be able to surf the web, Office applications bonus but not essential and watch telly on it and work with an ancient Garmin, for as cheaply as possible.

Any one got any top tips/recommendations/horror stories?

I can't use my right hand so was thinking of getting a tablet to help with taking notes in meetings and important stuff like facebook/lfgss.

Nexus 7? There is probably a new model due out sometime soon, but still a good tablet for a low price

As Google sell the Nexus tablets at pretty much cost price, in terms of hardware spec and performance they are easily the best value for money in my view.

Nexus 7 looks good... What are thoughts on getting the 3G or wi-fi only?

second gen is expected to be released in July.
rumoured to have 1080p display, amongst other jazz.

With the 3g/ wifi debate, id say wifi and tether to phone.

Any recommendations on netbooks? I'm not a fan of tablets and am a bit phased by the huge number of options available. I'm also quite tight, so budget is an issue.

^^ I can't wait until July, I am one-handed now. Think I will buy a wifi Nexus tomorrow....

FWIW I am loving my iPad Mini - great being able to do all those (as you say) important things - Instagram/Twitter/FB/Forum...:)

If it's mainly just web browsing and so on I've found the Chromebook to be very good. I've owned a few tablets and they get nowhere the amount of use that this does.
