this particular bottom bracket does not have flanges on either side and can be adjusted but it doesn't mean that it should be. adjusting the bottom bracket will expose the threads on either the bottom bracket cup or the frame, also it would need a good 3mm to be symmetrical and give safe clearance.
i think i could find the answer myself by measuring the chainline on the front but i a cant be quite accurate with only a ruler. i figure that if the chainline measures 42mm on the front then the intended design was to be non symmetrical, and if so by conclusion the miche cranks are as bad as cycling through dog turd and they dont live up to the great rep everyone gives them.
more interestingness. when installed the driveside crank has no clearance from the chainstay but when moved to the left side and installed there is clearance! i figured i could ride a left hand drive but what this actually showed was that the frame is slightly out of alignment by 1-2mm and when it comes to a narrow q factor this is noticeable.
a quick google found a number of people with this issue so i thought i would share my review and analysis from first hand experience.
