Yes, yes you did.
Well, this has been fun. I think I might patronise some colleagues instead now.

Buy a cheap 10 euro whatever, prepay SIM when you get there.
Seems like a good plan. Cheers.

Thank all.
Behold the answer:
If you just want cheap, these rebranded YBN chains from CRC are only a fiver, although I'd find the other fiver and get a Wipperman 7Z1 for general road riding.
This doesn't seem to work for me though:

That's because it doesn't. Take off the ".html" - see hippy's post. -

Whats the best way for me to get from Waterloo to lewisham? Google suggests Old Kent road - A20. Should I do this or is the A20 as gash as streetview makes it look?
-
• #47863
OKR, Lewisham Way: Nothing wrong with the route - It's not pretty, but this is London, my friend.

• #47864
Ok, will do that then. Cheers

Thanks old chap.
I emailed them yesterday and got a reply today from a Cordula Wagner (she's not a mod) which I almost deleted as another porn site fishing email (how do they get my address?).
Altering the Sta-prest will be £30 which is probably reasonable but also more than I bought the trousers for.
Any non-artisanal alteration services out there?Belated reply, but - £30, oof. Might be too late now but round the corner on Essex Road is a place called Ma Tailoring who are very friendly, and cheaper.

As in what is the 3/32" equivalent of the Wippermann that 'tester always recommends?
Have you tried looking at the Wippermann site?
My racing chain is 1R8, the 3/32" version is 7R8
My daily driver chain is 1Z1, the 3/32" version is 7Z1 -

Ok so I'm at a bit of a tired and lose end.
My GF really likes tennis and wants to watch Wimbledon.
For some reason my freeview has deleted bbc. I think it is the aerial / antenna at the wall that's fucked, because it looks fucked.
My understanding of aerial cables is that they're just conductors that run from the main aerial.
I've tried to strip the cable back a bit and tighten it all up but there's still no joy. There was a moment when I got some random BBC channel 32 or something that google said was the old red button channel. So I'm wondering if you can get semi oversized cables to give a tighter connection or I could replace the aerial port/plate thing with a better one???
Any other solutions?
I live in a big block of flats and the original aerial cable looks to run behind a plasterboard wall thing so I can't get to it.
As a fallback Are all Wimbledon matches available online via the Internet?

It's probably more accurate to call them wave guides; you can get a pretty good signal even with a break in the centre conductor.
iPlayer has any matches which were broadcast on either the main channels or red button

If you're going to modify the installation, I'd always replace the Belling-Lee parts with F-Connectors, obviously with an adapter to make the final connection to the receiver. The F-connector is more robust, and the corresponding RG-6/U cable has lower attenuation than the RG-59/U which usually accompanies Belling-Lee connectors.

Bellend-Lee
are you being rude again? :-0

Thanks.
I think part of the problem may be the actual roof aerial / receiver - which is out of my control. The cable is also shit. I don't think you can see from the photos, but it is about as far away from a cable like this as possible:
http://www.megalithia.com/elect/bellinglee/claw_s.jpg
I guess I'll have a look around. to see if there are guides on switching to a F connector to get better contact. The job is made a bit harder by the fact that that is all the leftover cable there is to play with. Plus because I think some sort of stud wall was put up over the original wall rather than plaster I have no idea where the aerial cable runs.
The next logical step however, I guess is to ask other people in the block of flats if they have had issues.
After that I guess I'm just left with upgrading to the Virgin TV package :(
