^^ not true.
Loved ico, couldn't get past the first dude on colossus. Nearly smashed my controller.
Haha! I will admit to resorting to Google for the 3rd one...
I'd love to play it in HD on the PS3.

• #8253
Played through Ico after getting that cos I'd somehow missed it the first time round. Haven't done Shadow of the Colossus again though. Think I originally got to about the fifth one before getting distracted by something else and never going back to it.
-
• #8254
They're so damn good, haven't played Ico in a few years but Shadow of the Colossus is possibly the best gaming experience i've ever had.
-
• #8255
I'm thinking i should buy a ps3...
-
• #8256
Same, just for MGS and ICO/Shadow of the Colossus HD...
-
• #8257
Ico/SotC are/ were free on PS+
And you can remote play them on Vita. -

Got skyrim. Can't believe how much better it looks on PC vs Xbox.
'Skyrim is going to automatically detect the best settings for your machine'
'Skyrim has selected Extreme Ultra settings'
Awwww Yeaaaaahhh.... -
• #8259
Good bye life, hello skyrim.
I still haven't even played it yet!
Hopefully tekken should be delivered today, really excited.

Ha, yeah... it already ate my life once. Round 2.
Ding fucking ding.

• #8261
i dream of the day when i can get a gaming PC.
barely enough room in my flat for my laptop! haha -
• #8262
I've been playing this all evening.
Yeah the learning curve can be steep. Don't be afraid to go to their forums or check out some of the Let's Plays on YouTube. I'm usually loathe to do Let's Play videos as I don't want to spend 30-45 minutes of my limited gaming time watching someone else play, but they do help here.
Here's a couple that can help.
Crusader Kings II - Castille Part 1 - YouTube
Let's Play Crusader Kings 2 - Part 1 (Slavonia) - YouTube
&v=8pclNfT8O5sCrusader Kings 2 - Guide For Newbies - Part 1 - Intro - YouTube
All of them have different styles, some may grate, but they all walk through some of the confusing bits. I have gleaned knowledge from all of them, and there are many more. But fully 50-97% of the fun in CKII is in losing. Building up the perfect empire to be crushed by a fucking cousin from some marriage you arranged a generation ago because your heir is a simpering, hedonistic half-wit is pretty much my endgame.
^I never thought I would see paradox love from this forum. There just aren't enough weekends to go cycling AND build stable trading empires in the Baltic.
I only have experience with CKII right now, but picked up Europa Universalis III and Victoria II in some bundle sales because of it. This is a treacherous time sink, and telling my wife that I've poisoned my queen, had an affair with my son's wife and am sowing discontent with my neighbours has led me to be on the receiving end of some steely-eyed glares.

I got CKII. Opened it, saw the million fucking buttons. Closed it.
-
• #8264
Even rail simulation games have less buttons.

Continuing with my re-discovery of the PS2, I'm going to give Okami a go. Has anyone played it? Looks like it sold poorly, despite excellent reviews at the time.
Okami HD Launch Trailer - YouTube
Again, want a PS3 so I can play the HD ported version...
-
• #8266
Not played it but heard nothing but great things from friends.
-
• #8267
Okami is beautiful and strangely surreal. playing as a wolf with strange powers to make trees blossom and to run very fast.it has strong RPG elelments. the story is a nonsensical tale of ancient gods and powers. Worth a go for a change from the usual shooting or rpg Tolkien goblins

ARMA is on sale on Steam at the moment - it it worth buying? I used to love Socom on the PS2.
-
• #8269
got dark souls through on my lovefilm subscription. don't think i have the patience for it though. was particularly frustrating as the controls are almost the exact opposite of batman arkham city which is now burned into my muscle memory from the past week's play so everytime I tried to do something in the midst of a fight i just die and have to do the poxy trek from the last campfire.
I can appreciate the appeal for some but it's a step too far for me I think. I prefer playing games not watching death/loading screens (another annoyance from the batman games too actually).

Worth persevering with Dork Souls Hatbeard...
Best game for decades. Deep rewarding frustrating therefore ultimately exhillarating when you progress. Look beautiful too -
