Technically weight is a minor consideration. Within the realms of your average road bike (6.5kg - 8.5kg).
But I'd still rather ride a 6.5kg bike. And I can relate to Dammits use of the word elegance.
But then I just built a fatbike with Ti rotor bolts, and alu bottlecage bolts. So I cant claim to bring any sense to the argument.
