Wanted: cheap and cheerful small ladies bike

Hey people

I am looking out for a small bike thats in good nick for my girlfriend. Most important is reliability as she rides about 8miles to work then back.

It can be single speed or geared.

ChainBreaker's Wanted ad reminded me I needed to list mine.
Those older bikes with cottered cranks and downtube shifters are more for leisure rides than commuting.
16 miles a day is a bit too much so best go modern I would say.

funnily thats the reason we are looking. She had a cottered crank step through and the bb has failed massively. It would cost more to repair than its worth

You can always get a cheap square taper bottom bracket off CRC (if you BB threads are dead you can use a threadless one) and a cheap Sturmey Archer square taper chainset off eBay to get the old bike back on the road.

I fixed up an old Decathlon bike for a friend and bought a BB for £2.50 on CRC and a cheap steel chainset for £12.95 on eBay and that worked ok (I would not recommend this chainset for 16 miles commuting thought)

I'm looking to sell my old Fuji Feather? It's 51cm, pink and currently brakeless (but it has a flip-flop hub) and it is very very used, but really nice to ride. I was going to clean it this weekend and list it on here but thought I'd let you know first!
