Bob Jackson Prices

Anybody noticed the silly prices Bob Jackson frames go for on Ebay?
Regularly more than a brand new one, strange?

Never noticed this.

I'm going to have a look (and probably list my frame whilst ordering another one.)

New BJ off the peg 653 is less than 500 quid
I know the one listed above is a bit special but considering a new curly Vulcan (remember BJ built some Hetchins) is only £850.....
I've watched a few lately, all seem to go high when frame only, not always complete bike though

That isn't 653 or OTP though, it's 753 with arrowhead lugs and and the Vulcan is 631/531.

I had a look through ebay, including completed auctions, and there's nothing spectacular about the prices.

Granted not lately, I was watching a couple last year that I would have paid 300 for that went for late 400's.
Seems the explanation above about the quality/lugs of the one above may be the explanation, or rather my lack of knowledge...
As a side note: Why are the new 653 BJ's relatively cheap compared with other hand made steel frames? Seem like very good prices when we read of steel frames made in the far east to save money (often dearer than the BJ) ?

I have no idea about that.

Maybe some people just want a cooled name on their bike than Bob Jackson so will pay more for it?

Within the last year, on a whim, I went to order a new made to measure frame, they would not take the order as they had stopped doing them. Maybe they are just making certain sizes and by that able to keep prices down.

If they are no longer doing MTM then they have sorted a production run of quality. :)
