Anyone going?
I live 10mins from Goodwood, although its the first ive heard of this.

Just saw this, I'll be going as I'm not far from goodwood either. Will probably enter the criterium, goodwood motor circuit is sick to ride round apart from the wind on the back straight.

How long is a lap?

By cycle a fuck of a lot longer than by car or bike.

About 2.5miles, the back straight is killer though. The motor circuit is also an aerodrome and is doesnt get much shielding from the surrounding Downs, some days you go from a steady 20+mph to struggling to keep 10mph.
The fixed crit could be fun, there is a nice little corkscrew chicane that is always a good spot for over taking and given the harsh back straight it would make tactical riding interesting, you don't want to hold the front coming to the last corner!

Finally, a local-ish event! My old man only lives 2 roads away from there.

Just paid for the criterium, anyone else from the Forum entering?

I'm undecided.

I'm slightly dubious as they mention no brakes, thats fine and in my opinion to be expected but if no brakes are a rule I'd like to think drops need a mention too....

No brakes so that everyone on level playing field & we don't get bunched crashes due to over braking. Make sense? Do you guys think that we need to stipulate drops? Ant

Why drops? I might go to this but will have to ride down with my son. I will need to use my old Paddy Wagon as I can put a rack on this and I can remove the brake easily when I get there, but this has straight bars.
Brakeless - YES
Compulsory type of bars - NO -

Bars were a concern for me initially but the track is quite wide unlike most criterium circuits and Goodwood is a fast motor circuit so the corners are smooth and sweep round gradually with only the second to last and last corner needing any consideration for line and speed. I've ridden round it in a group before and provided people hold a racing line and don't suddenly start skidding to shave speed then the likely hood of a crash/pile up is slim. It's a crit anyway so it's all about going for the front and if you fuck up there is miles of space to run off unlike in the Redhook series and most club organised crit races.

Compulsory type of bars - NOFlat bars wouldn't be too bad in a smash, bullhorns were my main concern.
