Yes, I'm wheelbuilding Arup. More than happy to chat about wheels.
There were quite a few info controls last year with people stopping to count the no. of steps down to the river and wandering around a Pizza Hut to find what the colour of the sign was. I got lost about 4 times. Some sections of the route is on cobbled streets and areas where there are pedestrians such as tow paths, so yeah, it's not a speedy route.
