Could the lack of images simply be related to 3rd party sites being slower to load?

Does the missing image thing happen when you're on a reasonable wifi connection or is it limited to 2g/3g?

Happens on wi-fi too. Quoted pics seem to appear with no problem but the originals never load.

Hippy I'm on mobile at the moment only half of the images are loading and im on WiFi. I can see all the posts up until half way through the page then they don't appear even in quotes.

Well, I'm starting the re-design later today and over the next few weeks so I'll look into it :)

Not really, just before the page finish loading, I got a glimpse of all the image, so in order to see them all, I have to cancel the loading just before it's 100% done.
i noticed this on my iPhone (Safari) this morning on the celebrity look-a-likes thread page 84. it will start to load them, and you will see them appear, but when it finishes only the top few are there...

Just tried it on Opera Mini and similar thing, but different subset of images are displayed... Odd.

I don't have any problems with images though that are being mentioned.

with the images loading problem, vb didn't you do a tweak a while back, which meant the images loaded as you scrolled through a thread rather than al at once, as a speed thing.
On the slow internet connection I'm on at the moment, it takes forever to load, but it used to happen on faster ones, where you scroll down a page and a post would just have text and then an image would pop into it...

That sound like the culprit, which (in theory) doesn't quite go according to plan on a mobile phone.

I don't get the mobile site on my Samsung S3 regardless of whether the CP option is set. How am I wrongdoing?

I read the forum as normal, not mobile version on my iPhone... Works fine.

I'm using a Samsung S3, it works fine just a bit annoying having to zoom in and out to click on anything haha.

If you go in Chrome and change the text font on a mobile you can read it without zooming, quite well actually.

Was there any thought given to the idea of using tapatalk? I know someone mentioned it in 2010 but it seems to have been left.

None at all. It's horrible and doesn't support a lot of the features that were hacked onto vBulletin, it looks ugly, and gives a third party the control of the experience whilst not holding them to account for that experience, which probably explains why it's ugly.

Tapatalk needs to die already, I'll be happy to help them along the way by providing a far better mobile experience on top of Microcosm.
