Is any minimum level of experience required?
Really fancy giving this a go but have never ridden on a track before
-
• #3
No, not the novice sessions.

I'm very much up for having a go - never ridden track before (but for once at Herne Hill). Is it like Herne Hill where you can borrow a bike or should we bring our own? I don't have a proper track bike but my fixie should be OK (can remove the brake easily and the bars are taped).

You can borrow if they have something suitable.
Or any fixed wheel without brakes, taped bars, foot retention, non-QR etc.

^^If I've embedded this right then there should be a a pic of my fixed gear above this. Guess it should be fine for the track once the brake has been removed...

Yes, someone races on one of them IIRC.

You may need to think about your gearing though. 48x16 or preferably 48x15 recommended for starting out.

Any locals know if the track is open for free use in the daytime?
Thanks. -

As long as a club isn't using the track you can just jump on

It will say here when they start up.
It'll be a while yet. Need more light in the evenings.

Looks like the area might need to dry up a little too.

it normally dries out pretty well, the only dodgy bit is coming upto and going around the second corner from the start line. As the trees block light getting through to the tarmac.

I have a mate coming down tomorrow, we were thinking of heading down tomorrow evening for the novice session. Are these still going on? Both our bikes are track legal
For those wanting to give track cycling a go, Friday night training is back on at Preston Park.
6pm for youths/novice
7pm for experiences riders
Couple of quid and generally seems to be a decent enough group.
