Genuinely good deal.

Cool, that's what I thought. Just surprised of the low interest, usually things sells within hours on here, including sofas

Any of you Sigma DP users - ever use a viewfinder? I'm considering getting one, anywhere I can buy one cheaper than £100 (which seems like a bloody lot of money!)

Just updated/redesigned my site, few more pics from my recent China trip on there too...

^ Fantastic range, lots of satisfaction in there.

Tidy! Great photos in there, good setup too. Is that your own theme, or based on something else?

Thanks, yeah my own wordpress theme, just wanted something very simple that focused on large images. I'd be happy to give it to anyone if they wanted. The code is a bit of a mess though.

Yep, that's definitely the way to go. Nice mix of photos too.

Somewhere upthread someone linked to an alternative for lightroom / aperture, but for b/w stuff. Can't find the link. Anyone?

Silver Efex. :)

• #3863
that's the one, cheers!

Bah, can't get it to work. Silver Efex 1 not compatible with Lightroom 3?

Do it.
Did it. Could someone help restore my savings account please?

And on that note... buying spare batteries from ebay / amazon and the like, good / bad idea? 50 bob for a spare doesn't entice me, a tenner does though. Not worth the risk? Any 'brands' better than others?

I have used cheap eBay replacement batteries in Canon DSLRs, Panasonic 4/3rds, and Fuji X-series with no problems whatsoever.

Same here, I use a 3rd party LP E6 as a backup. It even reports its levels which a lot don't apparently.

UpStart is what I have for an extra battery for my GXR, no problems so far.

Is there a better make between Sigma and Tamron?
I'm looking at a superTeleZoom (70-300) for my Nikon, both make one for similar money, is there a better choice? Or at the cheap end of town are they all the same?

Sigma

is better. But their QC can be a bit off. When you buy a lens test it between a few of them, and buy the sharpest. The sharpest will often not be far off Nikon quality. The repair standard is awesome - basically a flat £100 repair bill whatever the problem.
