Just got knocked off my bike in usual SMIDSY situation. Riding down Stroud Green Road, bin lorry was stopped in the other lane with a line of cars behind it. 1st car pulls out to filter past just as I'm approaching. Thought he left it a bit later personally but he left enough room for me. However, car behind without looking pulls out and turns across the road into the side road just as I'm there. I hit the front wing and go over the bonnet and onto the pavement. Guy gets out claiming he was indicating so I was in the wrong completely overlooking that a whole right of way issue. I get up check my bike over, nothing seems damaged, wheels are still true and everything is pointing in the right direction. I banged my knee & elbow but nothing bad. Couple of cars stop and a few people from the street stop and affirm he was in the wrong and one suggested I call the police. Guy initially keeps saying he was indicating and that I should have seen and then starts being apologetic saying it was his fault. Didn't think there was much point in calling the 5-0 so told him to go but to drive with way more consideration as it might not be so minor next time. I guessing his bonnet came off worse with the dent I left in it. Stupid thing was I always wear a helmet and this trip was the first time I didn't have it on as I forgot in a hurry.
As an aside, when I got to Finsbury Park Station, I got shit on by a pigeon. Maybe that was to signify my prior good luck in not getting too injured.
