I am looking to grow my Surly collection - with a Cross Check. Which I want to run as a light tourer/commuter bike. The thing is I hate Cantis. I have a set of new Tiagra brakes ready to go.
a.) is it possible to run road caliper brakes on the CC frame?
b.) what are the alternatives? Mini-Vs seem to be mentioned a lot.
The reason I ask is that someone advised me against it - since the fork, a rear bridge holes are meant just for mounting guards. However there are people on the web that have drilled the holes to make them bigger. Then use Tektro long reach calipers.
