London Cycle path question

  • I did utfs, but point me in the right way if there is a good one.

The cycle path that runs down the river from King George Reservoir near Enfield, All the way down to Hackney Wick.

Is this path just a dirt track or is it tarmac? I'm including it in a route but don't wanna thrash something nice down it if its not appropriate.

    Cheers.

  • It's mostly paved tow path with some sections of cobble and others that are packed dirt/gravel (through the marshes, which you can avoid).

  • thanks. hopefully i shouldnt damage my bike.

  • It'll be fine. Just be careful. They have points where stones/bricks are raised a couple of CMs out of the tow path (traffic calming, I suppose), and there are some ruts in between stones (especially under bridges) which very skinny tyres could get stuck in. But I've done that ride dozens of times without an issue.
