  • Love it, bargain...

  • I believe that's the 1st Ken Bird to ever come up for sale on here.

If it was my size I would snap it up, he was a fine frame builder and that is a ridiculously low price.

  • Dibs. PM Sent.

  • Second dibs...

  • Third dibs...

although Ken's frames were often attributed to him as being the frame builder it was in fact his brother Alec who built most of his frames......even "The King" Alf Engers rode on a Bird at one stage in the 70's, Ken who started out working for Claud Butler was a fine mechanic and top wheelbuilder having been selected three times as a Tour de France mechanic

  • If that's a complete bike for £150 .... Someone's just got a killer deal there, the deraillieur and cranks worth that alone....

  • This is indeed a good deal!
I've century bought an earlier 'Bird Brothers' time trial bike....mine was made for an up and coming tester in 1972, as a faithful replica of Alf Engers's machine, as Saxby says, by Alec Bird, before the brothers went their separate ways.

Mine is too small and I will be selling the frame and fork soon for about the same price as that complete bike......and Mine will still be a bargain!

  • I picked this up yesterday. Thanks John. A lovely man who gave me a beer and a good chat about bikes. I stripped it last night for a rebuild.

  • Do not powdercoat!!!!!

  • Do not powdercoat!!!!!

No worries on that front. The frame has some surface rust but generally in good cosmetic condition. It is white so maybe not such a big deal to have resprayed but it should clean up ok. Look out for the future build thread.
