  • Oh, it was me doing the bleating

  • working from home today so before work (before 9, honest) i've started an oxtail chilli.

    1.2kg Oxtail
    3 tins chopped tomato
    1scotch bonnet chilli
    garlic
    2 onions
    handful of majoram
    to be added
    kidney beans
    moar chilli

it needs to be simmered for 8-12 hours, so should be ready for eating at about 9 this evening with brown rice and sour cream.

it'll be even better on day 2 and 3 (if it lasts that long..)

after 3 hours it is already looking and tasting great, with a strong beefy flavour, and good chilli kick,

  • Since u have already angered the Texans by adding beans, I may as well file my secret chili ingredients: English mustard and horseradish. Oh, and chocolate. Boom.

  • Seconded on the chocolate

  • Chocolate is acceptable. Beans are heresy.

    (secretly prefers beans in chili)

  • Abel and Cole or Riverford organics veg box?

    #firstworldquestion

  • I used to get Abel and Cole, they often give you freebies. Got free eggs from them regularly.

  • Yep Abel and cole are great, been with them for years. really great customer service.

    ??

  • Made my best chilli so far the other day, blended down a red onion with lime juice, garlic and coriander and added that to the usual meat, tomatoes, white onion and spices. Absolutely delicious, definitely gonna do it again.

No beans (but only because I forgot to put them in).

  • We've been using Riverford for the past few years, they've been excellent.

  • I'm at birthdays in dalston. Shit burger, shit service, and since I walked here under my own steam, I'm to blame.

    Hipster thread >>>>>>>>

  • +1 for Riverford.

Used them for years and there are never any problems.

If there ever are any they sort them out well.

Also their Mince Pies at christmas are actually the best ones ive ever eaten

Which burger? Not Rita's chicken sandwich?

Chocolate and coffee are my "secret" ingredients.

  • when i rode past birthdays last night on route to east it looked like it was swimming with cunts

  • Chocolate and coffee are my "secret" ingredients.

Coffee is also my top secret ingredient. Makes for a great chilli if you do it with loads of toasted cumin seeds too

Even if the burgers were the best in town you couldn't pay me enough to sit in that absolute vipers nest of twattery.

  • Very slim chance I know, but is there anywhere decent to get quick cheap food in Canary Wharf?

May go to the pearl izumi crits straight from work later and will need feeding. I'd like to avoid all the usual BS chains if at all possible...

  • There is a massive Wahaca on Cabot Square. They are usually pretty decent.

  • ^^ If you're keen for Mexican, Tortilla is in the DLR station. Quick and good.

  • I love the salads in Krüger, not sure they'll be open late but they're really cheap and pretty good...

  • Which burger? Not Rita's chicken sandwich?

No, new menu, called 'psychic burger'. Average at best. Five years ago I would've rated it higher, but with the competition around it just didn't cut it.

  • Chilli

    chocolate

    lime juice

    coffee

  • Dark muscavado in a chilli for me, that and plenty of good erm... chillies.
