What does how hard you ride your fixiebiek have to do with anything? :D
With running the risk of sounding like andy and the clearance debacle, breaks on a track bike are out of place and yes it ruins the experience.
Not that my word has any sway since I currently ride neither option
I was trying to get down to a level he'd understand me.
Brakes are out of place on a track bike but a fixedgear does not always equal a track bike, what if you ride a fixedgear mountain bike or a fixedgear road bike?
I have my brakeless commuter and my training bike that has a brake, I use this for longer road rides not as a track bike but as a fixed wheel road bike.
