For Sale: Colnago Master 1980's 55cm

Posted on
  • Early Colnago Master

55cm Top tube (centre to centre)
55cm Seat tube (centre to centre)

    Shimano 105 7 speed throughout.
    Downtube shifters

    Mavic MA40 rims (stainless eyelets)

    3T Handlebar
generic black quill stem (120mm in length)

Gilco tubing top tube and seat tube, chainstays also.
Colngo 'Brev Colnago with club cutout BB', Campagnolo rear drop outs.
Front fork is cuved and has Colnago stamped on the drop outs.
Correct rear cable braze on's and head tub lug shaping.

Unusually no other Colnago markings, and the frame has been repainted (quite nicely) which I think is a shop. Its identical other than the lack of some markings as my old red 1983 master.

Sadly it has some damaged to the non drive side rear stay, looks like its had something drop on it. Structurally sound, rides just fine and the wheel tracks true. Some age related marks on the frame as you would expect.

Wheels are solid but would benefit from a service and true.

Seat post is Cannondale crap that has been cut down to fit (Gilco tubes are not round).

Iscaselle Tornado saddle (later edition), signed in 1989 by Malcolm Elliot.

A brand new pack of Colnago black cork bar tape is included in the sale.

Useable but rubbish tyres, Continental rear and Michelin Front, both showing signs of age but holding 110psi just fine.

Look pedals are included (also have some smart retro size 8 Sidi shoes with cleats knocking around and can be had for an extra £25).

£425 now dropped to £395 delivered

    Where's the price drop?

  • Yeah, read the rules rupertbear.

  • Where's the price drop?

Didn't he put it down to 425 from 450? I Cud be wrong

  • Apologies, I did drop from £450, to £425 and now to £420 o.n.o

  • And now last drop before the bay...
    £395 delivered UK

  • The not sold in a week drop... £375 delivered.

  • Send it to eBay. Master Gilco tubeset frames are getting that
kind money. If you list it internationally, you could get
    5-700, it's a nice size for the Japanese. ..

  • Personally I'd sell it frame only. Master frames,
especially older first gen ones like this fly on eBay
Put it on fixed price with #make offer and it'll be gone
    In a day.

  • If The Sidi shoes are 80's and in good nick,
you likely get £50+ for them. Eighties retro is massive
right now. I paid 60 for a pair of Adidas shoes and considered
    that a bargain.

  • You can post frames tracked and traced internationally with
Transglobal.co.uk. They are cheap and reliable.

  • That seat stay does not look safe...

  • Seat stay is plenty safe enough and also replaceable

especially older first gen ones like this fly on eBay

really? needs a new seat stay and a Colnago paint job to get into that territory, plus even more for some chrome... that's a bundle of cash; difficult one to move but happy to be proved wrong...

Have to agree with Chris on this ...

  • Drop £345 delivered

  • Final drop £299 posted

  • My one question is the lugs been filled in purposely? Also where are you based?
If so then I may be interested. regards cc

  • Still here needs to go, dont think lug pantos have been filled but had considered that myself. Its got signature and correct rear brake guides on top tube, all coorect gilco profile tubes even the chainstays carry the gilco shaping. Correct bb shell with shaped top, cutout brev colnago underneath. Colnago drop outs on the chrome forks, correct head tube colnago shaped lugs. So bit of a mystery, but must have been built by one of the builders colnago outsourced to? Or its just an oddity.

  • Turns out it has had pantos filled with some gold coloured metal, pics to be added but its 100 percent nag master. Random thing to do though!?
