I don't car about their self-marketing and being at the front or back of something...
I like their approach to quality and non-Italian craftsmanship. the pelizzolis are nice no doubt, but they don't do it for me...
I actually the look of the mash frames, and if I get something a tad rarer with less hype but of equal quality and maybe more of a true track geo that would be great!
but is the quality worth the money or lead-time? that is my question...

Like I said above Cervelo T1? True track frame, alu and not often seen.

you can get something better, cheaper, acc. to your geo and without waiting 1 year and paying taxes

What about a Factory 5?

Waiting for everybody on here to say yes is going to take longer than the lead time on a Low. Because it will never be the sensible option. But if you think yes then go for it. Exactly how many people do you need to tell you no before you change your mind?

get an ingria.
cant get more aggressive than that.well the guy who makes them couldn't provide any real info on geometry. All he said about geometry - If seat tube is 57cm, then top tube is too and it's like that for all sizes.
Thought he replies in russian and if u don't know russian - it won't be easy to get frame. -

I see your point. But I am not trying to be advice-resistant but rather trying to hear different opinions...
I will look into all alternatives and then make up my mind.

What about a Factory 5?
the prototypes for the new one looks really nice http://prollyisnotprobably.com/2013/04/beautiful-bicycle-tylers-factory-5-low-pro-track/#10 quite cannondale track-like though
well the guy who makes them couldn't provide any real info on geometry. All he said about geometry - If seat tube is 57cm, then top tube is too and it's like that for all sizes.
Thought he replies in russian and if u don't know russian - it won't be easy to get frame.master i got a bit of info when i enquired:
"Hey! It's just fantastic, that we have finaly managed to push to Europe. Because it was a really hard way!
So, the lowest price is 490Euro, including pouder framepainting (you may choose colors in RAL catalogue), integrated seat lock, taxes, fairs and delivery cost.
Technical charts:
Wheel base: 95sm, if fork rake 4.5sm,
Head tube angle 76'.
Seat tube angle 76'.
BB bsa.
Seat stay 27,2, fork 1,1/8
Best regards. "Obviously English isn't there first language but it's better than nothing, it gives you a rough idea, 76degrees on both (still not sure on this as generally they change with size, but should be about that for medium sizes) and square geo, i'm saving for one but it will take a while, plus i'd rather wait for a bit and find out about tubing (more than "aircraft aluminium") etc. but apparently they weigh 1.3-1.4kg depending on size. If that's true and the tubes aren't noodles then it's got to be something decent.

this.
re the original question, it's a frame that will divide opinion more than most, personally i like them but not enough to justify the pricetag, if you feel you can, go for it.
Andrew Low could stop making them at some point too, or change the geometry or start outsourcing or something like that and then you'd kick yourself. Personally i'd rather a pelizolli, or a nice cannondale track-a-like, but they still do look really nice imo

What is their approach to quality? Handmade? South East Asian frames are "handmade" too.. Being American? Being non-Italian?

Cinelli/MASH frames are.... Chinese...
and maybe more of a true track geo that would be great!
What is "true track"? Looking at the stock Lows I don't see anything about them that seems "true track".. 74 degree seat-tubes across the board on their Standard reminds me more of the road frames that Colnago sold in North America than "true track". Surely not a 6-days frame.. Nothing about them that says "no track" but..
I'm sure they are OK.. I'm just not a fan of long long seat-posts and riser stems.. With modern alu (OS, shaped etc.) tubes not much weight is saved.. Don't see really any advantage.. but some negatives.. like flex in the seatpost.. But.. hey... who said fashion needs to make sense or ...

They look great with those big bold stickers, two contrasting bright colours etc. And seem popular for good reasons for street riding in SF, hard to really tell how popular for the track.
But one of the main reasons people ride them will be to support a local company, or at least a company in your own country. Not just for the sake of supporting a local company but also to avoid paying large shipping fees and the carbon footprint associated with that!
do you see what I mean?
I dont deny that they look great and there musnt be more then two or three in the uk though!

Just buy whatever the fuck you want or can afford, how 'worth it' can it be?
Surprised Scoble hasn't chimed in to say buy a pre cursa yet...
-

JB and Indra, I am sure you guys differ but giving an opinion on bike I did only 100km on doesn't really make any sense..
-
• #42
Well...in all fairness, scoble isn't wrong.
Hang on, have you got rid of it? Dint realise you'd only done 100k on it...
-
• #43
Didn't I read somewhere that scoble has a low? Trying to find it now...
EDIT: just "oneka" trollling
ed's got a low//, you didnt know?

• #44
Not getting a low, save some more greens and get Bishop to build one. That's the ticket!

I totally agree with slates, supporting a local company, and avoiding shipping for a variety of reasons make total sense..
Now I need to find a local frame builder that equally inspires! And I am in Germany btw...
