I find it good but amusing that new riders have discovered what traditional cycletourists new years ago.......let the bike carry the load. I know it's better for off roaders to carry a back pack but at other times a bag on a rack a far superior. I used to use a Camper Longflap when commuting and apart from being able to carry loads of stuff they are great at bashing wing mirrors on Cars!
Saddlebags are even approved of by cats!
