Hey everyone,
Have been lurking for a little while and only been riding fixed for about 9 months; I love it. Not being confident enough for a build of my own I had this built:
Sorry for sh1tty picture.
'88 Raleigh Corsa frame (Head badge is now on). Welcome to comments.
Unfortunately all my 'sensible' mates have bought brand new shiny, carbon fiber, 126 speed beasts. So I'm considering buying a reasonably cheap 10 speed, so that I'm not spinning like a horny cocker-spaniel.That's beautiful! I really want to respray my bike, or just make a custom build. Saving for a road bike though as I'm off to Paris in August.

Thanks alex. It's a matt paint job, didn't want anything too sparkly. Got it done by a motorbike re-sprayers.
Excellent! My work are doing a London to Paris around the same time, was very tempted but I can't commit. Will be an awesome experience. -

Hey everyone.

Hello
I'm in Fareham.
I've been looking at the site on and off for a little while and this week joined up so I could buy my first retro (Raleigh Record Sprint).
Hoping to get something else soon (frame for a project?) so I'll be back for advice.................

Hey all, new here but have been lurking for a short time.
Newish rider from Essex.
Hadn't considered a fixed bike until recently.
I am not terribly strong and i suspect a fixed wheel bike would make me stronger and improve my pedalling technique.
Also i dont get out and cycle enough, party because of the crap weather recently, as i dont like to mess up my main bike so much and also it doesn't have (and i dont want) mudguards on it.So it happens, suddenly i am interested in building/buying a fixie, use it as my bad weather/training bike.
Done a lot of reading over the past few weeks, considered building one but my lack of experience/knowledge might stop me. Considered the cheap no name bikes, but i suspect i would end up throwing half of it away and the resale potential is poor.
So i have decided i'll buy a decent second hand something, just haven't decided what yet.Looking forward to some good discussions :)

Hi, my name is Justin. I live in Chicago but I'm going to be in the UK from June 6th to July 25th, and I figured I'd join the forum so I could do bike things while I'm out there. I work as a courier here for Cut Cats Chicago, we deliver food and miscellany on the north side of the city. I'm going to be traveling very light and I'm hoping to build a bike when I get to England. Let's be friends?

Hey peoples, just signed up here, pretty new to all this Vintages Stuff. We have a bike shop in Chamonix France, MTB and Road, have been recently sourcing massess of these old bike, we're going to convert some to fixé, but love renovating and restoring these old bikes as are. Seems as we're on the Franco-Italian border there is an endless supply. Not here to spam you all, just get your thoughts and tips on what's hot and what's sweet. Will post up some pics in time, once we're out of the Nursery. That said, if any of you have any "fetishes" or need a certain vintage frame/bike sourcing we can try and help. Yes we're a business, but there are so many out here, we're happy to help find them a good home. It's a facinating subject becoming a distraction. Any hoos, good morning, have a good ride peoples.

Can I ask why so many of you are converting these beautiful bikes to Single Speed or Fixé and not keeping them in as close to original condition as you can? It's like Bike Grafitti to us! We actually quite like Graffitti, but not on a beautiful building!
