Casati Ellisse Due budget road build: Finished

So around xmas I bought a beautiful Casati framset made from Columbus Neuron, from Fisk, of this forum. It is lovely and obviously deserves a really nice italian groupset and good components, but I just wanted to get it on the road as quick as possible, so its pretty utilitarian right now, but I think it looks nice. Most importantly it rides like a dream.

My original budget including frame was about £500, total build came in just under that at about £480

Spec as follows:

2013 Sora Groupset
except the brake calipers which are campy centaur
shimano 501 wheelset
bontrager ssr compact bars
Cinelli Pinochio stem
Alpina seatpost off an old bike
Madison prime saddle
Michelin pro race 4 tyres

Oh and the weight without water bottle or saddle bag is 19.5lbs or 9 kg's, which I think is pretty respectable all things considered.

Thats a very nice budget build! Where did you get Sora groupset and how much did you pay for it?

Thanks, eventually I'll do the frame justice, but just happy I can get out on the road again, its been years since I had a roadie.

I got the Sora off some fella on Bikeradar forums, paid £120 without brake calipers, only about 200 miles on it.

Like that a lot . I think thats £480 very well spent , cant buy a faceless mass market OTP for that .

I sold a Casati Armonia a while back and it was hands down the best looking frame I have ever sold. The way they integrated the cable guides was simply amazing.

Did it have the hidden (reversed) seat clamp too?

Not sure if I would call it hidden, but I think this is what you are referring too.

Also have a ratty lower end Casati Special road frame which is a bit big and will probably be going at somepoint....

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. I just took it on its first longish ride today, fucking beautiful weather and explored some new and stunning scenery north of manchester. I am just wondering how the hell I went 4 years without a road bike till I built this up!

Nope, it's the same as a standard seat post clamp, just reversed.
