interesting J Wilson article on the tactical trends of 2012/13, and what is the big thing going forward.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2013/may/28/tactical-trends-2012-13
"And that hints at two other trends this season: the growing importance of the deep-lying midfielder as a playmaker and the increasing variety of the central striker...
That the holding player – or one of the two holding players – has a creative function is not exactly new but the implications of that do seem to have been particularly relevant this year...
Midfields have never been so split – it's common to think in four bands rather than three – and yet the need for universality, for holding players to create and for creative players to shut down, has never been greater.
But it is centre-forwards who are probably the most notable feature of this season. While Spain and Barcelona have shown it's possible to play without a traditional striker at all, more traditional types have flourished..
Complete centre-forwards, players who are gifted finishers but also have the creative ability to pull wide or drop deep, to generate chances themselves."
hoping with another preseason with AVB at the helm and the search for a striker now properly on, who can create chances and take them as well, the latest tactical offerings won't pass us by..

oh and Benitez to Napoli is a good shout, he gets a good squad, champions league spot and a club despite possibly losing their top goal scorer, he can push forward. Kind of feels like a similar situation to what he found with Valencia, using his tactical nous and coaching up a great core of players to upset the natural order of things in spain.

He revitalised your fucking club, won a trophy and all he gets is opprobrium.
Remember you are Chelsea and Chelsea are bereft of class.

Christ Chelsea fans are ungrateful whiny fucks.
That's aimed at cliveo, the oldest hipster in the world and shitface.Give the man some credit, you won something, not good enough for you, okay fair enough but when di Matteo was given the boot you didn't look likely to win anything then, despite still being in competition.
I'm really hoping the mourinho return turns into an emotional train wreck and the media get to run story after story about how you should never go back and then the fans start to whisper it amongst themselves that maybe mourinho has to go, and the whispers turn into chants and badly written signs on oddly shaped cardboard. And you come up against Napoli in the CL and Benitez stuffs you good and proper.
But then again I could be taking TS' throwaway comment above to seriously.
Ps cliveo you may be losing more twitter followers if you continue the Chelsea bias in the twitter sphere..

The Neymar transfer to me signals a regressive more for barcelona.
back to buying in overly expensive shit, in order to sell shirts.
They should stick to small transfers, very few of the big ones ever pay off.
Song, Fabregas, Sanchez, Chygrynskiy, Mascherano
Recursion.
