Leave the paint. Clear nail varnish/lacquer over the spots where the paint is completely gone. It would cost well over a hundred notes(and prob more) to reproduce the paintjob. Not really worth it.
Use the hundreds of pounds saved to buy a track frame and build this up geared.
Job done, puppy saved.
