which old maker frame for heavy rider

I would like to build an everyday commuter which is still very sleek looking out of an old steel frame.
im a bit on the heavy side, 6 ft 2 and 185 lbs. ive got a 531c which looks great but i think this tubing is a little on the thin side for everyday so i would like recommendations for vintage frames which look nice and have a bit sturdier tubes.
has to have relaxed comfortable geo
has to be lugged
has to be 531 st or butted tubing or equivalent.
must not have pantos on.
should not have too many braze ons as i want to ride single speed for this one.
must have pretty wrap around seat stays
i have been looking at some touring frames like dalesman and such but i dont like centre pull brakes and theres too bits i would have to remove.
any suggestions which old make/model would suit what im looking for?

I ride on an old Peugeot aspin frame - It looks fab and is annoyingly heavy for me so could be ideal for you.

531 should be fine unless you're an undiscovered Forstemann

185 local bike shops is indeed quite heavy.

I'm heavier than that and have ridden a few 531 frames... They were mostly over engineered.

Have broken a couple of 501 frames though.

don't worry, I'm 100kg and ride 531, SLX & crabon frames, the wheels have to be up to it though

If you're 6'2" and 13 stone, you're hardly on the heavy side....

Ok so lets skip the weight bit and just focus on other points... Also was talking about 531c, which is thinner than 531 standard whatnot. It's more about finding a comfortable frame which looks good (raleighs dont) without touring brazeons.

This one has so many bits stuck to it.

There might be a contradiction between wanting relaxed geo and no braze-ons. With older frames in larger sizes, (I'm 6'3" and into 'old tat') you have to take what you can see here or on ebay rather than looking out for a specific model.

Looks like it may have been built for 27" wheels so would take large tyres on 700c's for around town riding...

I'm so pathetic. I saw the above bike and thought, 'oh my god it's ace it's ace I have to buy it how much how much it's so pretty!!'

Then I realised I've already got one.

Oh, and I'm 200lb and I ride 531c and it's fine. My massive bulk doesn't melt it or anything.

what about 531SL then.. am i still fine or just worrying about it unnecessarily. certain websites are giving weight guides and i sure as hell don't fit within the limits.

This Woodrup frame was almost certainly designed as a multi-use frame – club riding, club time trials, light touring etc. Its in excellent condition and dates I think from about 1980. An ideal frame for use on Sportives and randonneurs.

yes I think so… as he is recommending it for light touring, i expect it to be fairly comfortable geo?

Should be, it's 531 and about the right size for someone of our height.

Do you know your inseam and reach etc?

34 inseam and reach i just measured fingertip to fingertip is 195 cm. my height is just about 190 cm.

Quite big inseam, you might want a slightly longer frame but I'm sure you can manage with this.
