I'd go for a darker chainring.
Or go black cranks -

Hmm the aluminium tube seems to deform under the pressure, so going back to the DIY shop to get either a thinker alu tube or a steel one.

Don't know how well equipped you are, if you could just get a bit of solid bar and drill it out to exactly the right size it wouldn't slip or squash. Horrendous job without a drill press or lathe though.

That spacer is a good idea, any chance you have the geo spec of that Singular frame? I can't find it in their spec pages.

It was more of a functional decision than aesthetic, these cost £2 (I think) and not sure if I want to rely on it.

Nothing wrong with a cheap clamp on an alu frame/post. Only really worth getting fancy on crabon.

^^ Not 100% true. I changed my Unknown seat collar to a Thomson one and it is 1000x better than the old one. Before, the old clamp would let water between the post and seat tube and after the bike had dried out I would get squeaky post syndrome. Thomson, although expensive for a collar, looks good and saves me the hassle of regreasing my post* all the time.

Not that well equipped at home..
At this moment I've got some steel tubing, steel bolt and washers and the bolt is stating to bend at the point where I can stil move the saddle sideways a little but I seems not to go up or down anymore (maybe because the rib profile on the Thomson posts). I think this is the threshold so I'm just going to stick with this and hope for the best tomorrow.

From my experience of them, I doubt a hose clamp will provide the clamping force necessary to hold a seatpost in place..

Replace frame with a Tokyo Fixed Dart? only saying that cause it's steel.
