Wanted: Mixte for the smaller rider

Posted on
  • I miss my peugeot mixte. A lot. So, I'm on the lookout for a new one.
Something around the 50cm mark give or take (suiteable for 5'4" / 32" inside leg)

It can be a beater / bit crappy as long as it's running relatively smoothly.

    Anyone got anything?
    Thanks

  • Yes, but thank you.
Apologies, realised I left out an idea of budget which would be useful. Looking more on the beater end of the scale.. around the 200£ mark. Ideally less, a bit more at a push.
The bike in that thread is gorgeous though.. if I were richer I'd be all over it.

  • Hi! I ve got 50cm Titan mixte, pm sent

  • ^ I could be interested in this if the Op isn't.

  • PM received and replied to. Its a lovely bike but not quite right. OTY Citron!

  • If you can't find anything here, Charge Hob can be had in S and XS on the bay they come up second hand every now and then.
I ride an S at 5"5' think 5"51 is lower end. Single speed but light, mudguards, can be turned into fixie got one myself it's great.

Often see old Mixtes on local gumtree too. Happy hunting!

  • If you can't find a mixte, may be this is an alternative a very small Concorde Colobo, 50 cm roadbike.

  • Nice, (and jolly) but I have a roadbike.
Thanks for the heads up on the Charge.

Bump as I'm still on the hunt...
Doesn't matter if it's a right clanger / covered in stickers etc. The right size, (mostly) functioning and (preferably) cheap are the name of the game.

  • I've got a nice early 70's red/white Motobecane that I have fixed up at Christmas.

Small frame, 650B wheels, 3 speeds, alloy chain guard, full mudguards, working dynamo (new bulbs), fully serviced with new outer/inner cables, new brakes, new tyres and tubes, new grips.

It is at my brother's just now but he is visiting London at the end of the month.

I can ask him for photos if you think that fits the bill.

(and it is well within your price range and you keep it french)

  • Here is what the bike looks like:

  • Vince, that looks lovely. Love the loopy mixte frame.
How much are you looking for it?
Can't really tell from the pictures - do you think it would take 700c wheels?

  • I am only after £170 for the full bike.
Not a bad price since I've fully serviced it and put a few new parts on it.
As for the 700c wheels, they definitely will fit but you might have to remove the mudguards (therefore the dynamo) and the brake reach won't be right.
If you are after a small mixte frameset only, I've got 2 in the garage that I would sell for cheaps (£50).

  • My only concern is 3gears and living in Highgate. My knees just won't do it! What kind of rear hub does it have? Could I whack an 8 speed on easy enough? I love the look of this bike and 170 seems a good price indeed.
Maybe my knees need to man up.

  • PM'd!

  • Has this been resolved?

    If not how about this...https://www.lfgss.com/thread104700.html#post3527759

  • Thanks Poots.

This has not yet been resolved. I love the bike Vince is selling and am ever so tempted. I just think it's too nice.
I need a beater. Something that I won't be particularly upset about if it goes missing. Because I would be heartbroken if that one, or my current bike went awol.

I'm not even bothered about a mixte.
Just a small ratty bike that I could possibly set up as a nice spinny single speed for pootling about town and hauling up stairs.

  • Give me a shout anytime after tomorrow. I might have the bike for you.

  • I have now listed it properly. let me know if you change your mind
