I'm doing it 48 x 16, same as I used in 2010 & 2011.
I tried 50 x 16 last year which was generally ok apart from a couple hills where I had to give up and walk.
This will be my first year with spd pedals which should make hill climbing a lot easier, and eliminate toe pain.
