Nuts or very brave?

I'd say brave. She sounds like she was fully aware of what was going on and made judgements as she went along. It doesn't sound like she rushed in without thinking about what she was doing.

We can count on the Brownies to be good in a crisis it seems.

Seems pretty crazy - it's a very interesting account, but difficult to know what her motivation for talking to them like that, unless it was some kind of shock...

I think she said elsewhere that she was trying to delay them effectively, she was concerned they may attack more people.

She wasn't to know that they were only interested in the soldier.
