So what we have is a dinky little Raleigh Arena, a child's racing bike from the late-70's, 80's.
The condition of the frame was fine, paint job not so great. Even though it looks alright in the pic above.
Having accumulated a lot of parts from my previous build. I set about getting what else I needed from people here and from eBay/Amazon/etc.
LFGSS (thank you!):
Levers, Handlebars, Stem from Gingergrinch - for a beer
Calipers and seat post from nellyrodders
First step really was to get the cranks off. Mushroomed cottered cranks!
I tried, but then delivered it to my friend as she said she had a cheap LBS who could do it. With me nagging, later, took it there. WEEKS later she picked it up and FINALLY took it to Armourtec for a new paint job, sans forks as they were still with me. Oh well, she's going to have to live with black forks for the time being.
Weekend of the 18th of May 2013, she finally picked it up.
22nd of May 2013, I finally get my hands on it, and it is beautiful!
Her choice, but a close match to LFGSS blue I say!
I've got some cranks in the pipeline and then we take it to get the BB!
I had been a bit tired of going at a v slow speed when riding with my friend, so I decided to build her a bike to, at least, go a little faster!
But it all started by me seeing this: http://www.lfgss.com/thread91495.html
t.o found a frame, which turned out that cycleaddict had tossed.

I asked, but no further details on it's actual origins came to light.
