  • Thanks for all the kind words guys! - I will find my bike.

  • I really hope you get this back, but I hope the twat is caught more !!!!!!

  • gutted for you mate..hope you catch the scrotes..

  • Sorry to hear this. Reminds me why I left London, now when I go back it shames me. Friends cant see it though, de-sensitised to the mess that it is.
I can leave my bike outside my front door by mistake and someone will knock and tell me here in North Devon. There are disadvantages though, not many different names in the phone book ;)
Hope you find it soon, lovely bike.
    Nick (ex Londoner)
*PS, yes I know there are good and bad everywhere, but with that many people, there are proportionally more bad.*

  • I've been advised to post this up in the Stolen Thread and although I cannot prove it is a stolen bike I just want buyers to be aware...

The bike in question is this Cinelli Vigorelli which is being advertised in Glasgow and Edinburgh

This is what I know about the bike...

My mate went to see it with a view to buying. He emailed the seller through Gumtree who replied but without revealing his/her name. Mate was then instructed to meet 'the girlfriend' in the centre of Glasgow, (again no contact details) when he saw the bike he was already suspicious so flipped it over to check the serial number, the bottom bracket is barrel shaped where someone has rather crudely filed off the number and put a splosh of white paint.

When asked about the serial number girlfriend said she knew nothing, said 'the boyfriend' bought it in Kent a few months earlier and boyfriend worked in the 'legal trade' and would never buy anything dodgy. Mate walked away rather gutted but glad he never bought a dodgy bike.

Boyfriend pulled the advert but it has now reappeared...

Unknown to me another mate emailed when it came up for sale again and the 'boyfriend used exactly the same spiel of meet the girlfriend in city centre. He emailed back saying he would rather deal with him in person and was told the boyfriend was working away and would get back in touch when he came home, he's heard nothing since. Now that he knows the true story he won't be wasting his time viewing

    Caveat Emptor...

    My original post here

  • ^here's a pic in case the add gets deleted

  • Reposted in Edin forum just in case its been lost locally.

Could be legit except for the serial number and the method of selling.

  • Send photos of the damage to the idiots that made the claims below. Then ask for your money back on both the container and your bikes.

    Police preferred specification
Protect a Cycle is the first and only secure bicycle store that has achieved the Secured by Design mark - the Police Preferred Specification.

    Loss prevention certification board
Protect a Cycle has passed the Loss Prevention Certification Board LPS1175: Issue 6 testing, achieving a Security Rating 1.
    Certificate Number : 899a

Contacted Trimetals and they admitted they have re-designed the hasps("in the last month or so"). They've made them double thickness and much more secure.
They sent me out some replacements, shame they didn't contact existing customers if they knew these were being exploited.

  • Bump - £500 reward to catch the bike thief and get the bike back.

  • Really gutted to hear this! Believe me I know the feeling and exactly what you are going through!!! I really hope someone somewhere spots it! The police.... mmm... don't count too much on them! Fucking useless!

  • .

  • Here is the c**t who stole the bike... between 17:50 and 17:55 in Waterloo.

and here is him making off on it...

  • What was it locked up with? looks like he did it all pretty quick.

  • ah, crap - I work in Waterloo, just on the south bank, will keep my eyes peeled.

  • It was, and on the second floor of an office block, via a court yard. He or someone had checked it out and brought tools.. The CCTV shows him confidently marching in, he knew what he was after.

  • He looks to have some mini bolt cutters in the first pic (could be wrong) so I would imagine it wasn't locked up with too much... Again, just speculation though...

  • Gutting.

  • What a shithead. Is there any point spamming his photo on facebook? Sadly I reckon noone would give up a friend/housemate etc so can't see what good it would me. Unless his mum, who he quite possibly lives with, wants a reason to give him a smack round the ear...

  • I'll post some more photos of him so spam away, and don't forget there's £500+ all the beer you can drink, if I get the bike back and or the guy.

  • He didn't even bother with a cap or pull his hood up.
They must be so confident of not getting caught.
    What was the security used?

  • putting this up on facebook

  • added all details and pictures. never know !

  • Hope they catch this complete f***king arsehole!!!

  • What lock were you using?
