Spa are fine and used to do good deals on Brooks (and maybe still do). Nowhere is perfect so give them a go.

Like I said . they manage to be a good but grumpy bike shop even on line.

after finally getting the spokes there were five less than i paid for/needed. more like in a coma...

after being promised they'd mail out the rest of my order first class last week, i'm still waiting. now been a month since i ordered, my half finished wheels are v sad. LAME

I've only had fantastic customer service from spa, and would definitely definitely use again.

Many moons ago i was offered a job there, but after the interview and meeting the staff i never went within 100 yards of the place ever again.

I ordered a couple of folding tyres from their site. Got two rigid tyres a couple of days later. Fuck all use those were, so spoke to the chap on the phone and he said they'd get the right ones sent out and the wrong ones picked up. Happened the next day.

I pinged them about winter tyres, they were out of stock but the customer rep tried to find me alternatives and was very friendly.

So, I've no issues with them. Their touring bikes are also very good value/quality. Maybe it depends on who you get?

Yeah, from what I've heard it's the original owner's son who is the bad cop. Not sure who I dealt with but they were apologetic and efficient with regards to getting it sorted.

Your totally mistaken mate. I have never had a trial at spa. I had an interview at spa in 2005 to be a wheel builder and I don't own a car, I came on the train. You've mixed yourself up. If I get any more abuse via PM from you i will take this to the police. Get your facts straight before you go accusing a totally innocent person. I'm afraid you've confirmed what I've long suspected about your shop. I had heard it had turned a corner but if this is the sort of knee jerk accusation throwing that innocent potential customers might get I stand by my previous comment. I'm seriously mad about this. I never worked there for 5 minutes let alone a '3 day trial'. I never took a penny in wages from them and neither would i. I cannot believe somebody would jump to such a monumental conclusion as this, and risk looking like a total idiot.

You were never offered a job at Spa Cycles. You were trialed as a mechanic but after three days, you got caught steeling stock. A brand new 9 speed cassette that should have been in the workshop, was found in the boot of your car. You should have been thumped and told to piss off. Instead you were paid and told politely that your skills were not up to the standard we required.

Unless you can substantiate your accusations [which are very serious].....you should make a full and public apology to jinrich because your comments if wrong or malicious are libelous and if you speak with the authority of Spa Cycles.....they will be liable to litigation too....and they will have a deeper pocket then you i would imagine.....I am sure John at SC will appreciate your comments.

Oh, this is interesting. I was looking at them for new touring wheels...

I was in Spa a month or so ago when visiting my parents to pick up some touring kit for the Dawes. Really reasonable prices on loads of good kit and the chap in there seemed friendly and knowledgeable enough.

I'd recommend them.

I've banned snail.

I can't work out whether he works for Spa Cycles, but either he's misrepresenting them and posting potentially libellous comments, or he does work for them and is very naively causing serious damage to his own company or employer.

Either way, he is being banned to either protect him and others from the defamation angle, or to protect his own business. It's very rare that I ban anyone for their own good, if people broadly disagree I'll let him come back and continue to burn his reputation.
