  • I too am new. Roadie at weekends and have commuted on hybrid but getting pain in wrist from grips.thinking of getting a drop handlebar single speed for commuting but don't know where to start....

  • Hello from York,

Been lurking for a while. Ride to commute and for just riding sake. Added a SS/Fixed to the stable of bikes recently - Charge Plug (new wheels cost almost as much as the off the peg bike), but mainly ride it in and around York.

Commute weekly to London by train where I use my Brompton between Kings Cross and Paddington.

  • Hi all,

North Londoner here (though I hang out in the Congo most of the time at the moment!). Have been lurking for a while, sweet forums! Currently terrible with bikes, but hopefully that will change with a bit of practice.

  • Hi from France !
Looking forward to joining the community :D

  • Chaps, et al,

Hello. Am riding around Derby on a non-standard Felt Dispatch. Will try to join in more!

  • Hi, just joined the forum and looking to buy or make my first fixed gear cycle. Interested in Fuji or similar classic retro looking racer, brooks leather saddle, chrome handle bars, crisp clean look etc.

  • Hey, I'm new...half way through turning my 1995 Marin Bear Valley SE into a single speed...I'll try not to ask too many stupid questions...

  • Hiya! Long time lurker and now selling my bike as I'm moving up to Scotland.

  • Exercise is banned up there.

  • Hello everyone,

I'm thinking of trying a fixie. I found this site by accident and have enjoyed reading past threads. I'll probably lurk mostly but I thought I'd pop in long enough to say hi.

    Hi.

  • Hey everyone

Haven't properly ridden a bike in 5 years, figured this summer would be a good time to start again. Considering buying an old track frame and making a fixie out of it. Should be fun!

  • Hi guys, I'm Alex.

I got curious about FG/SS while I was living in Southsea last year. Moved to London and got myself sorted now, so bought a single speed with a flip flop hub a few weeks so. Not quite courageous enough to ride it fixed yet.

I'm thinking of getting bullhorn bars and respraying the bike all together.

Also toying with buying my housemate's Bianchi Advantage hybrid and turning it in to a custom fixed gear. I was going to buy it a while ago but the gears are shot.

Any way, that's enough about me.

  • Hi guys. Been reading this forum for a while and today I picked up the bike for my first project. Looking forward to sharing it with you all

  • Hello, Im Chris - looking to build my own bike and or fix my old one.

  • Just introducing my self.

Had a 1964 Claud Butler that I restored and converted to fixed gear which has finally given up the ghost.

Looking to buy a second had frame on here.

    Kim

  • welcome all!

  • you know you could have just edited your first post. (i think you should be able to at least when youre a full fledged member)

  • Hey everyone,

Have been lurking for a little while and only been riding fixed for about 9 months; I love it. Not being confident enough for a build of my own I had this built:

    Sorry for sh1tty picture.
'88 Raleigh Corsa frame (Head badge is now on). Welcome to comments.
Unfortunately all my 'sensible' mates have bought brand new shiny, carbon fiber, 126 speed beasts. So I'm considering buying a reasonably cheap 10 speed, so that I'm not spinning like a horny cocker-spaniel.

  • Hello.

Been lurking for the past year since I moved to London and started riding my bike everyday. Definitely more enthusiastic than clued up, joined to try and learn to do it myself a bit more, and pick up parts from the community.

See me beteen Hammersmith and old street most days on a green Ellis Briggs fixed gear and say hello.

    Cheers.

  • Hey ju1y

Ditto, would like to start doing stuff for myself too. Had to replace an innertube the other day which I hadn't done for about 10 years. Wondering how hard it would be to restore an old 10 speed. Saw a beaut in the shop today, probably circa 1960's, just don't think I could do it justice.
