My first geared road build

  • Hi Forum,

If you had this frame and 250pounds to build a geared road bike for summer commuting and weekend rides....What would you do?

    So far I'm thinking

Forks: Chrome, columbus to match the frame or similar

Components: Second hand 105 to keep it cheap yet decent quality (already have a chain/crank set, shifters and rear mech)

Chinelli stem and bars (seem to crop up in classifieds all the time for little to nothing) with white tape

Black seat post with white Turbo saddle

Wheels: Open Pro's with 105 hubs

These are just my initial thoughts based on budget and the aesthetic I'm looking for, very much open to suggestions from people with more experience of this type of project.

  • I built a road once.

  • How did that go for you?

  • i think that would look nice with everything chrome/polished on it & black forks.
