• Regarding stuff to carry... 2 bottles, usually 1 is just water and 2 has something fruity. I do usually take along isotonic tablets for that bottle for hotter or harder riding when I feel I might be at risk of getting hungry and cramps.

    I'm careful to keep some food/drink in reserve until I know I'm reaching my destination. Brioches, biscotti, bananas or just anything portable with some carbs and sugars, they don't have to start the letter 'b' either, that's just coincidence. Whatever the food it should lift my mood, that's as important as anything.
