The go slow was to make sure the gruppetto made the time cut and got to the rest day; lots of people still ill and suffering from effects of Saturday. The winner was about 30 mins slower than the slowest prediction from the road book.
The sprinters and errrrrr Cobo lost 28 mins on the leaders even with racing only on Galibier
