Good morning, Emyr! Since 2004...

Best bet is to find a small Latvian shipping company that does door to door. There's a few Polish ones. Are there enough Latvians in the UK to have private couriers?

Sorry not bike related, but does anyone have any experience using parcel couriers to post items of high value?
I have a musical instrument for sale, which will likely need posting and I'm struggling to find a company who will insure for the full value (~£3500).
Anyone recommend any companies, perhaps some sort of specialist? or offer any advice?

I suppose it's fragile,
the most secure way would be to do it yourself,
if it's within Europe ,
you just have to buy a ticket for the instrument,
check before,
I even saw Ryanair admitting a cello 3 years ago. -

anyone know of any good options from US to UK for a complete bike? I'm grappling with a bike i want shipped over. I paid $320 last time USPS, but this time the guy packing it is struggling to get it down to anything sensible (i.e. within the size restrictions 108" jobby)
Has anyone tried sending a bike in two shipments (frame&fork+cranks etc and wheels separately) - i would have thought could work out cheaper maybe
thanks

Hello,
A frameset is waiting to be shipped to me, from New York to Croatia. The cheapest we found so far is $320 by a shipping discounter that would be using FedEx anyway.
US post office too expensive, UPS too expensive, FedEx too expensive.
The box is 38"x25"x8", 14 pounds.
Any other options? Or should I swallow $320? :/

https://bongous.com/international-shipping-rates.php
If I'm correct that would result into Rate: 128.42 GBP / 197 USD
With them it's the size of the box that makes the biggest impact, not the weight of the product. If you can manage to fit it in a smaller box, it would end up cheaper. Don't know if that's possible though.

Is it worth 250+- to post though ? might be worth selling it there and buying a new one here if it's a otp frame?

I am kinda dead set on a FBM Sword frameset. It is already paid for, I just need to find a bit cheaper shipping option...

Thanks! That's worth checking out...

you might want to contact http://www.parcelinternational.com/country/
I do all shipping from NL to UK, USA, Oz, Japan, etc. through them, never found any cheaper option

Just for the benefit to others, parcel international never get back to us. In the end I went with myus.com and I must say they have excellent service and good discount rates. They even have the option to put 'fake' shipping info on receipt, something like 'special offer, free shipping $0', for customs...

I've won a complete bike on eBay which is in Colorado. I emailed the guy prior to bidding and he said he hadn't shipped a bike before but was happy to arrange it if I won. However, now he's said he isn't able to post the bike because it won't fit into a box which is smaller than 46" and USPS won't take anything over 42". Apparently he got a bike shop to pack it up for him but I'm struggling to work out how it's oversize if he's taken it apart properly. Anyway, I've suggested a few blindingly obvious ideas like putting the frame in a separate box or asking the bike shop how they ship their orders abroad which he said he'll do. I wanted to know if anyone has any up-to-date info on shipping bikes across from America? Does anybody have a company they recommend or have recent experience with packing and shipping across the pond?
tl;dr: Best way to post bike from Colorado -> London?

I played around with the USPS calculator once, before biding, it seemed doeable.
#134 should help. -

Thanks Midi. I think it's USPS that this guy is trying to use, he keeps coming back to me with quotes of between $900-1100 AKA tripping out. I'll email him about the company in 134 and see what happens. Doesn't seem like it should be so hard for him to work out but you can't overestimate some people's potential. Thanks again.

I just had a bike shipped for 150usd with FedEx.
Seemed quite reasonable tbh. -

Cheers eyebrows. I've just asked him to have a look at FedEx too. That's more like what I was expecting to pay.

HI all,
Trying to find someone to ship bike from Rotterdam to London. Postal service here being buggers and want box to be 100x50x50cm. Bike isn't that small!
Anyone have any suggestions? Would be greatly appreciated.

Use GLS, PostNL won't do such big packages, but they've also have messed up some package I've sent international completely.. GLS has almost never let me down and they've got some delivery points in Rotterdam.
Looking forward to buy a road bike located in UK, Bristol.
Can you recommend cheep transport company who can handle shipping?
Final destination - Latvia.
Thanks a lot!
Cheers!
