  • go on strava.com and click upload?

  • your ride files should be saved on your garmin still unless you've deleted them

  • did you press Start?

  • tried turning it on and off again?

  • Rode one of the worst climbs in the area yesterday. Coming back down, it transforms into one of the best descents. I love it.

Descent: Hanase Omote switchbacks - YouTube

Hit that bitch up in HD - trust me.

My GoPro overheated about 4 mins into a 15 min descent so I only got the first bit, with switchbacks galore, but it's the best part anyway. Still disappointing though.

  • he he he, ^ repped.

    just getting out now!

  • Rode today with Mr Tim (he's not on here). The normal state of affairs is that he tells me how slowly we are going, while I bleed through my eyes trying to keep up. He wasn't having the best day today, for a number of reasons, so I was able to actually look around me at the world as I passed through it without the red filter, and mighty special blighty looked today. I really would like to put this time of year in aspic - Kent was looking almost edibly voluptuous. The landscape around Sevenoaks, and the grounds of Knoll in particular, are comically picturesque right now.

We did a fair bit of climbing, but avoided most of the really steep pigs, in favour of longer grinding drags, which suits me quite well and I felt quite okay on the bike - I even got a few twinkly little strava ego massages.

Tim was doing most of the navigating , until I made a hubristic comment about my excellent, nay infallible sense of direction, took over the steering and promptly got us lost. I'm such a pillock sometimes.

I even got back in time for a lunch of asparagus crepes and a pretty decent bottle of Picpoul. Middleclasswin...

  • The guy is on roller skates!!!!

  • Lent my road bike to a friend and persuaded him to come to Brighton, me on my Pompino. Unbelievably beautiful out there today, with the bluebells out everywhere in the woods and other spring loveliness. Quiet and peaceful too. Great route.

  • Thursday weekend replacement ride around Noroflk was a bit grey and a lot of cold considering it's May but did find these which was the real aim:

I may have spotted you at Brighton station - white pomp, about 1300ish?

I tried a new route down to brighton yesterday and it was fantastic, lovely day to be out riding.

  • ^ Lovely! Spent first May weekend near Ashford, really gorgeous time of year to see Kent, a county I'm not really familiar with beyond Bexley. Bluebell woods and lambs and big trees breaking out into greenery. Although to me the roads, even the lanes, seemed fast and busy.

Yesterday set off late and did Bishops Stortford - Cambridge with my other half - who hadn't been on a bike for well over a year (almost two, I think) and hadn't been running (his usual thing) since last summer. It's a lovely quiet route, and since a few weeks ago everything is out in flower, particularly pretty hawthorn. The LITTLE LONDON sign is on the corner of a field of blooming "future diesel" (the smell is quite overwhelming at the mo) - would be a great spot for a forumers photo.

  • Gran Fondo Nove Colli:

Over an hour faster than last year. Which is nice.

  • Pretty big weekend of riding for me, having barely ridden bar commuting for the past 8 weeks or so due to knackering my wrist in a bike / car incident on my way in to work.

Decided to tell the wrist to HTFU and went out for 50 hilly miles in Kent yesterday. Went reasonably well, wrist and legs didn't feel too bad....

....so I got all excited and got in touch with Tom (TTM on here) and we went out and did the 'Hell of the Ashdown' sportive route today. I felt ok for the first 40ish miles, then, the ride yesterday and general lack of bike time recently kicked in and the legs blew up. Que lots of wingeing and Tom feeding me chocolate to shut me up. End of the ride was pretty start-stop due to Tom suffering with a knee condition and me being a pathetic nodder. Felt great to be back on the bike though

Highlight of the ride was seeing a herd (?) of furry little pigs outside some ridiculously idyllic Kent farmohouse. Tom tried to stuff one in his jersey pocket to put in the over when he got home but I wouldn't allow it.

  • Dragged my brother and a mate out for a pootle around the suffolk lanes yesterday. 23 miles of whichever one was on the other fixed wheel bike moaning (only have 1 roadbike) interspersed with some visits to relatives and 2 pub trips. Good way to spend the afternoon.

  • Did my normal Winchester/Meon Valley ride today, it was meant to rain today but didn't so the entire ride felt almost like getting away with something.

Wild Garlic out in force as well- some of the forest sections were totally carpeted in it, a unique smell to zoom through!
