I believe that Jeez has made a study into this sort of thing, he should be along shortly.

RRP for the bb is £109.99 so they have overcharged you by £0.01p.

I once bought milk from a shop and they charged me for it!
should I name and shame them? -
• #11
Immolation is the preferred resolution here. Self- or shop, probably doesn't matter.

Why would you name and shame a shop doing it's job you tit. Stop being a belter and it'll get friendlier...

-

plus they fitted the expensive option without consulting me.
you asked for a hope bb, they fitted a hope bb.....
-
• #20
maybe have a word and see if they can offer you a bit of a discount
you didn't request the top end BB they fitted ... what BB did you have in there before ? did they do a like for like swap or did they upgrade you without asking ? -
• #21
They charged £15 for replacing the bb which is very cheap, most shops charge £25/30.
-
• #22
Sram bb - non ceramic.
-
• #23
If there were two options, in this case steel and ceramic, I would expect the cheaper of the two to be the default to be fitted.
I would expect a call to confirm that I was happy with the more expensive option.

Again - Fire would solve all of these problems.

basically I asked for a decent bb that would last me a long time (in bb terms). The guy suggested hope and I said yes as I have a hope wheelset, (which they rebuilt the rear after a crash for £50, which I thought was a really good price). I had a rough idea of the common sale price (not RRP!) of a hope bb in my mind so I said yes.
No prices were discussed at the time - looking back big error. Had the invoice emailed to me today with the costs outlined above.
Anyone know the list price of a Hope ceramic bb? I asked for a Hope bb to be fitted to my bike and the shop has fitted a ceramic one instead of a stainless without asking ( i assumed they would of fitted a stainless one) and are charging me £140 ; 110 for the bb, 15 for the gxp adaptor and 15 labour.
Just scouting on the net and £110 is a lot for the bb.
Any ideas on what I should do? I waiting on a call from the bike shop boss to discuss further but hopefully some has had a similar experience and advise on what to do?
