It will be interesting to see how many Evertonians make it to London to bid farewell to David Moyes. Their reaction to his departure has been amusing. A life-long Evertonian who I know (raised in that scouse hotbed that is Swindon), promised to wear a Liverpool shirt every day for a month if Moyes went to ManU. Sadly, he appears to be all mouth and no trousers, or at least, no shirt.
There is a lesson to be learnt; don’t threaten to do what you cannot carry through. I, for example, will not promise to wear red trousers and a half and half scarf to every game next season if Benitez stays. Quite the contrary.
Life as an Everton supporter cannot be much fun. Born to a city in decline, bound forever to support a team that has known better days and always overshadowed by the history that is Liverpool. We should allow them their little moment in the sun.
