Stupidly I have amassed numerous for sale, freecycle, wanted threads etc over the years. Now i realise that was daft, can i get them deleted or can they only be 'closed'? I don't like to think i'm gonna be clogging up the server for eternity.

Server capacity generally grows a bit faster than our ability to clog it up.

Cheers sounds like a clever hack.
So how strong are those little things, do they need to be in plastic tubes or is that just so you can secure them?
(I'm wondering whether you could glue them to things)
They are pretty brittle, the plastic tube is there as much for protection as anything. I have successfully glued them into a knife handle:- cut a slot with a dremel, fill with clear epoxy, push the beta light in until it is lower than the surface, and make sure the epoxy is completely covering it.
If it stands proud it will get broken. -

I got a 11-25 Shimano 105 casette on my bike. I just bought a 12-27 Tiagra casette to replace the old one. Can I just put the Tiagra casette on and switch the 12t ring with the 11t ring from the 105 casette?
-
• #45731
Of course you can. Makes for quite a jump though, 11 - 13. And anyway how often do you run out of legs in the 12 cog?
-

Cheers.
Sorry for all the questions but where do you usually source the tubing ?
-
• #45733
Makes sense... I guess I'll just run with the full 12-27 then. Thanks!

Make sure your chain is long enough. Obviously, you should be replacing it too if your old cassette was worn, but you may need an extra couple of links, depending on how tight the chain length was with the 25.

What's the difference between Chris king grip nut headset and the 2nut headset?

Usually?
I only got some once, from a saline drip, but I suspect windscreen washer tubing will do the job. Get the beta light first, then find tubing. The stuff I used got really soft when dipped in boiling water, so it is a snug fit
Check out a car mechanic / nurse ! -

B&Q stock a few different sizes of that tubing.

Is Campagnolo Pista wheelset any better than Mavic Ellipse? For track use only.

Yes, but if you need better than Ellipse you also need better than Campag Pista.

For car type gaskets I've used stuff from halfrods, screwfix and toolstation.
But car spares places

All data is potentially useful, destroying it is vandalism. Because, by definition, you already know all the stuff in posts you created, you are unlikely to realise the potential value to strangers from the future™ of things which you consider worthless.

You could post a request in the mods thread to have them deleted but that would create a lot of unnecessary work.
Just close them to keep the gravediggaz at bay and unsubscribe to tidy up your list.
If they really bug you, then ignore them.

I have broken a spoke, whats the cheapest way to go about fixing this? its a fairly old wheel but barely used so the spoke isnt anything fancy,
-
• #45747
It's late and no-one else is biting, so I'll go with magnets.
-
• #45748
^ yeah it's that new wireless technology that replaces the spoke with a pair of magnets.
-
• #45749
actually could you in theory build a wheel like that?
-
• #45750
Kind of...
[ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_bearing[/ame]
If you levitated the rim off the hub using magnets, you'd have a wheel using compressed spokes and a tensioned rim, i.e. a cart wheel. You can't use magnetic attraction in place of spoke tension because the relationship between strain and stress is the opposite of what you need. In a metal spoke, pulling part of the rim further from the hub increases the tension, so the spoke pulls it back into place. In a magnetically tensioned wheel, moving part of the rim away from the hub decreases the attractive force.
